The first Honda portable generator, the E300, was built in 1965. The Honda Motor Company was started in 1948 by Japanese businessman Soichiro Honda, who was concentrating mostly on building motorized bikes, and later actual motorcycles. In 1962, three years before the company began producing portable generators, Honda started making small cars and trucks. By this time, Honda had already established offices and plants in the United States.
